Save files in the home directory
in the home directory
You can securely store and manage your files in your home directory. With the WebShare service, you can also publish information on the web.
Save and manage your files
As a student, you have a home directory in which to save your files. You are given 5 GB of storage space as standard. The home directory functions as a cloud storage service.
You can access your home directory in two ways: via a desktop computer at the university or via your own computer.
Saving files via a desktop computer at the university
- Log in to the desktop computer using your MauID (e.g. aa0000) and password
- Open 'File Explorer'
- Select 'This PC'
- Then select '[MauID] (\\mahfil\Home) (M:)'
- Upload the files you wish to save
Saving files via a personal computer
- Open a web browser (e.g. Safari, Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome)
- Go to access.mau.se
- Log in with your MauID (e.g. aa0000) and password
- The menu contains the storage locations 'Share' and 'Home'. Select the 'Home (M)' folder
- Select 'Upload' from the top menu. Upload the files you wish to save
Publishing on the web
You can publish content on the web using WebShare, a service used in certain courses.
To use the service, you first need to activate WebShare. You can do this via the IDS system:
- Log in to ids.mau.se
- Select 'Services'
- Select 'Activate your WebShare'
- Please note that it may take a while before WebShare (L) appears as a storage location.
Connect to WebShare
In order to use WebShare, you need to be connected to the Malmö University network. If you are logged in on a Windows computer, WebShare will be available as drive “L”.
Outside the university
If you are outside the university network, you can access your WebShare by logging in at access.mau.se.
Connect to WebShare from a Mac
- Go to Finder (the desktop)
- Select 'Go' from the menu
- Select 'Connect to Server'
- Enter the server address: smb://webshare.mau.se/WebShare/<your MauID>
Published webpage
You can access your published webpage at the following address: https://webshare.mau.se/<your MauID>.
