What is UNIC?  

UNIC (The European University of Cities in Post-Industrial Transition) is an alliance of ten universities located in ten European cities. These universities share their experiences of similar societal challenges and collaborate to develop solutions to them. Inclusion and sustainable development are two of the alliance's key focus areas.

Students and staff at Malmö University are welcome to get involved in UNIC, contribute to its development, and participate in its activities and events.

Application 2026/2027

The position is for an entire semester, and you will be appointed for the full duration. To apply you will need to be an active student at Malmö University with a general interest in global engagement.

Applications are now open for the role of student ambassador for the 2026/2027 academic year. The application should include a brief introduction and a clear explanation of your motivation for becoming a student ambassador.

After the application deadline, selected participants will be called for an interview with the international office staff together with one of the student representatives. Priority will be given to students with previous experience of activities connected to UNIC.

The role of a student ambassador

As a UNIC Student ambassador, you make UNIC more visible for your fellow students and engage in activities connected to UNIC. You promote internationalisation and student engagement. You are expected to participate in local events which may involve collaborations with student ambassador colleagues at the other UNIC universities. You will also collaborate with the local UNIC student representatives at Malmö University and partake in arranging student focused activities together with them. You are expected to participate in at least three activities, of which at least one in an organising role. No travel is involved in this role. 

What do I get?  

You will gain experience of collaborating and organising events in an international context. All ambassadors that participate in at least three UNIC events, of which at least one in an organising/promotional role will receive a UNIC certificate of participation. There is a possibility to include the role as a UNIC student ambassador in a Certificate of International Merits, after the requirements have been fulfilled.
