Short-term and virtual international experiences

Meet students from all over the world at the very appreciated annual International Student Conference at Parahyangan Catholic University in Bandung and Jakarta in Indonesia, 25–30 January 2027!

Designed to foster a global learning environment, ISC brings together students from across the globe to engage in diverse learning approaches that address pertinent current issues under the umbrella theme of Global Citizenship. The 2027 conference theme is “Powering the Future: Youth Driving Innovation for Sustainable and Inclusive Energy Futures”

The programme explores three interconnected themes:

• Energy and Me: Understanding the Hidden Energy Behind Everyday Life
• People and Energy Futures: Connecting Global Goals with Local Realities
• Indonesia as an Energy Living Lab: Community, Innovation, and Circular Futures

The conference aims for students to understand that energy is not simply about technology or electricity generation. It is also about how we live, the choices we make, and how communities experience the opportunities and challenges of energy transitions. The programme will include interactive keynote lectures, interdisciplinary workshops, engagement with UN Indonesia, and experiential learning through site visits.

Malmö University offers one spot. The selected Malmö University student will be offered a fee waiver, worth 470 USD, and a 4,500 SEK travel grant. Accommodation, breakfast and lunch, airport pick-up from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, inland transportation during the programme, and cultural visit tickets will be covered. Please note, the selected student book and pay for their own flights to and from Indonesia. Insurance will be covered by Malmö University. Make sure you have funding before you apply. Malmö University does not offer any additional funding that what’s been mentioned here. Selected student will be expected to share their experiences with fellow students back in Malmö.

For who?

The application is open to all registered programme students at Malmö University. Priority will be given to students that will continue their studies at Malmö University throughout 2027 and to students that have not previously received a travel grant for INU activities.

How to apply

Apply by filling out the application form and upload the following documents in the application system:

1. Motivational letter, maximum one A4 page, Times New Roman 12 p. Explain in your own words why you want to attend, how you can contribute and how you will connect the experience to your studies at Malmö University.
2. CV
3. Transcript of records/results or for first semester students proof of registration from LADOK

Are you interested in diversity, discrimination, and how people’s different backgrounds and experiences shape society, education, and organisations? This virtual course gives you the chance to explore these questions together with students and teachers in an international real-life setting. 
During the course, you will use your knowledge of diversity and superdiversity in practice through a city lab. A city lab is a way of working with real-life challenges together with researchers, educators, and people from civil society. Through local and/or virtual meetings, you will help create new knowledge about issues connected to superdiversity in the city. 

The course is offered as a 15 ECTS free-standing course linked to the UNIC joint master’s programme Superdiversity in Education, Organisations and Society (SEOS), coordinated by Ruhr University Bochum. The course is credited by Ruhr University Bochum. In the SEOS programme, students learn about superdiversity from different perspectives, including social and organisational structures, applied research, teaching, and working in diverse environments. 

The course is open to students at Malmö University who have completed at least one year of advanced-level studies by the time the course starts and who will be based in or near Malmö during the course period. You should have some basic knowledge of diversity or superdiversity, discrimination, and intersectionality. It is also helpful if you have previous experience of participatory or engaged research methods, co-production of knowledge, or research methods related to discrimination. Mode: Mainly online teaching. Participants need to be located in or close to Malmö. 

Language: English 

Dates: City Lab during 12 October–23 December 2026. Report need to be submitted in February 2027.

Being a global citizen in an increasingly interconnected world

All students at Malmö University are welcome to apply, priority will be given to students who plan to continue their studies at Malmö University throughout the academic year of 27/28 and to students who have not before participated in INU activities. Malmö University announces eight spots.

This online program brings together students from universities across the globe to examine major global challenges, reflect on diverse perspectives, and develop the knowledge and skills needed to contribute to a more sustainable and equitable future.

Attend six sessions over the course of twelve months, starting with a briefing session on 15 October.

What you will learn

• Understand global issues and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
• Develop intercultural awareness and the ability to engage across cultures.
• Strengthen your sense of social and environmental responsibility.
• Reflect on global inequalities, democratic values, and human rights.

The program is delivered fully online through live sessions, collaborative activities, and group work. You will learn alongside students and academics from the International Network of Universities (INU), gaining valuable international perspectives and connections.
