Course on international applied research on superdiversity
Are you interested in diversity, discrimination, and how people’s different backgrounds and experiences shape society, education, and organisations? This virtual course gives you the chance to explore these questions together with students and teachers in an international real-life setting.
During the course, you will use your knowledge of diversity and superdiversity in practice through a city lab. A city lab is a way of working with real-life challenges together with researchers, educators, and people from civil society. Through local and/or virtual meetings, you will help create new knowledge about issues connected to superdiversity in the city.
The course is offered as a 15 ECTS free-standing course linked to the UNIC joint master’s programme Superdiversity in Education, Organisations and Society (SEOS), coordinated by Ruhr University Bochum. The course is credited by Ruhr University Bochum. In the SEOS programme, students learn about superdiversity from different perspectives, including social and organisational structures, applied research, teaching, and working in diverse environments.
The course is open to students at Malmö University who have completed at least one year of advanced-level studies by the time the course starts and who will be based in or near Malmö during the course period. You should have some basic knowledge of diversity or superdiversity, discrimination, and intersectionality. It is also helpful if you have previous experience of participatory or engaged research methods, co-production of knowledge, or research methods related to discrimination. Practicalities
Mode: Mainly online teaching. Participants need to be located in or close to Malmö.
Language: English
Dates: City Lab during 12 October–23 December 2026. Report need to be submitted in February 2027.

INU Online – Global Citizenship and Sustainable Futures: Learning for Change
Being a global citizen in an increasingly interconnected world
All students at Malmö University are welcome to apply, priority will be given to students who plan to continue their studies at Malmö University throughout the academic year of 27/28 and to students who have not before participated in INU activities. Malmö University announces eight spots.
This online program brings together students from universities across the globe to examine major global challenges, reflect on diverse perspectives, and develop the knowledge and skills needed to contribute to a more sustainable and equitable future.
Attend six sessions over the course of twelve months, starting with a briefing session on 15 October.
What you will learn
- Understand global issues and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- Develop intercultural awareness and the ability to engage across cultures.
- Strengthen your sense of social and environmental responsibility.
- Reflect on global inequalities, democratic values, and human rights.
The program is delivered fully online through live sessions, collaborative activities, and group work. You will learn alongside students and academics from the International Network of Universities (INU), gaining valuable international perspectives and connections.
