Mau Reads: Author talk with Karin Tidbeck

Fantasy author Karin Tidbeck talks about their book

'The memory theater' takes us into a world parallel to ours with mysteries, decadent paradise and a journey through time and space. In a conversation with Martin Cathcart Frödén, senior lecturer in Creative Writing at Malmö University, Karin Tidbeck talks about their book, and students who read the book during the autumn book club will ask questions.

The talk will be held in English and is free and open to everyone.

About the book The Memory Theater

In a world just parallel to ours exists a mystical realm known only as the Gardens. It is a place where feasts never end, games of croquette have devastating consequences, and teenagers are punished for growing up. For a select group of masters, it’s a decadent paradise where time stands still. For those who serve them, however, it’s a slow torture where their lives can be ended in a blink.

About the author

Karin Tidbeck was born 1977 in Stockholm but now lives in Malmö, where they work as a freelance writer, translator and teacher of creative writing. Tidbeck's own writing is mainly in the genres of fantasy and science fiction, and they write both short stories and novels, both in Swedish and in English. Their debut in the English-speaking world came in 2012 with the short story collection 'Jagannath', which was nominated for and won several major awards.
