Resume studies, admission to a later part of a programme.
Resuming studies
To resume your studies after a break, you need to apply for reinstatement. Contact your study administration for instructions. Your application must be received by the study administration no later than 15 April for the autumn semester and no later than 15 October for the spring semester.
Admission to a later part of a programme
You can apply to be admitted to a later part of a programme if you meet the programme's entry requirements and have already completed studies that are equivalent to parts of the programme. Decisions on eligibility and admission to the second year are taken by the faculty (or equivalent) in question. The transfer can only be made in conjunction with the start of a new semester.
Application for exemption
In order to be eligible for courses in the second semester and onwards, you often need to have passed one or more of the programme's previous courses. The eligibility requirements for starting a course can be found in the current course syllabus, which you can find in the programme syllabus for your programme.
If you do not meet the eligibility requirements, the University has the option of making exceptions to these. This is applied very restrictively.
