Students at Malmö University need to upload their degree projects to Diva, on this page you can read about the Diva portal, and how to register your degree project.

Diva is Malmö University's platform for registering and viewing publications produced by the University's researchers, teachers and students.

How it works

When you upload your degree project you need to register mandatory information, for example, if you want the thesis to be published publicly or not.

After your degree project has been approved, a study administrator ensures that the information about your work becomes public and visible in Diva. Please note that you must select the correct programme from the list in order for the thesis to be sent to the right study administrator.

Register your degree project in the Diva portal

Instruction for registration of your degree project in Diva

You can save your registration as a draft by clicking on 'Cancel/Save draft' and selecting 'Save draft'. Drafts can be found under 'My drafts'. Hover over the red question marks to display help texts explaining the fields.

  1. Log in with your computer identity and password.
  2. Start your registration by selecting 'Add publication/Upload file'. The project should be registered only once regardless of the number of authors.
  3. Fill in the mandatory fields. The registration form contains many fields, but you can skip many of them. Mandatory fields are marked with a red asterisk (*). In addition to these fields, you must fill in the fields 'Local ID' (under 'Author') and 'Education programme' (under 'Degree').
  4. Upload your file, the same version you sent to the examiner.
  5. 'Review/Publish and Submit'.

Enter mandatory data

  • Authors. All authors of the paper should be registered. If there is more than one author – click on the 'Additional authors' button. For each author, fill in the fields 'First name', 'Last name' and 'Local ID' (computer identity of each author). Enter your email address to receive an email when the paper is published (the email address will not appear on the page). Click on the 'Select organisation' button and fill in 'Institution, department or programme'. Choose specifically as possible from the drop-down list. Never enter your personal ID number anywhere.
  • Collaboration. Enter if you have collaborated with a company or another organisation.
  • Title/Alternative title. The title should be consistent with the title as written in the paper. If the paper is written in a language other than English, the English title should be entered in the 'Alternative title' field.
  • Degree. Enter all fields. As the Education programme field controls which study administrator will review the registration, this field must be completed.
  • Content category. Check only if the work constitutes artistic research.
  • Other information. Enter the year and number of pages.
  • National subject category. Mandatory field. Select a category from the subject tree, as specific as possible.
  • Key words and abstract. Type or paste the abstract. Make sure that it looks neat and that no unnecessary characters have been included. You can enter both keywords and abstract in several languages.
  • Supervisor and examiner. Enter supervisor and examiner. You only need to fill in their first and last names.

Upload file

Should there be any changes after you have uploaded the paper, the Diva administrator will replace the file at a later stage. Choose if and when the full text file should be public:

  1. Make freely available now – means that the file becomes publicly available when your paper is approved.
  2. Make freely available later – choose a date from which the file becomes public, or alternatively that the file becomes available as above but is hidden at a later date.
  3. Archive only – means that the file will be hidden, but the information you have registered about the paper will be searchable in Diva.

Review/Publish

The information you have entered is displayed so you can check that it is correct. If you want to change anything, use the 'Change details' link or click 'Back' to return to the form and make the changes. When the data is correct, click on 'Submit'.

After submitting the paper

Your thesis will be visible in Diva when it has been approved by your examiner and the registration has been approved by the study administrator of your programme. If you have entered your email address when registering, you will receive a message when it happens.
